Job summary
Applications are invited for the post of locum consultant in urology for 12 months in the first instance. The successful candidates will join a dynamic team of eight consultants providing urological services in Sandwell and West Birmingham. Existing consultants have developed sub-speciality interest to provide a specialist service in various aspects of urology. The post holders will be expected to have comprehensive training in all aspects of urology especially general urology.
The Trust is one of the largest Teaching Trusts in the UK, employing around 7500 staff, serving a population of over 500,000 and having around 1000 beds. In partnership with integrated care services among Black Country Hospitals, the Trust is seeking to deliver an ambitious redevelopment of local health services including new models of care and facilities. The plan includes a new state of the art acute hospital, the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital, which is set to be completed in the next few years. The Midland Met will have dedicated urology theatre and wards.
Applicants must possess full registration with the GMC, FRCS Urol. (or equivalent) and a higher qualification is desirable. However, it is not essential that applicants are included on the GMC Specialist Register in Urology at the time of the interview.
Closing date: 28th November 2022
Interview date: 8th December 2022
Main duties of the job
This is an exciting opportunity to join an established, dynamic and expanding department. The post attracts 10.0 PAs. Major portion of work will be around core urology. Active participation in teaching and training of medical students, junior doctors and specialist registrars will be required.
