Applications are invited for a ENT Junior Specialist Doctor (Lower) based at Sandwell & West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust commencing 3rd August 2022 for a period of 4 months until 6th December 2022.
This post provides an exciting opportunity to work within a friendly department at Sandwell & West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust - a busy ENT unit, covering City Hospital, Birmingham and Sandwell General Hospital, West Bromwich with an equally busy elective ENT services covering multiple sub specialities. This non training job is at CT1 level and would suit doctors working towards joining a core surgical training programme. The department offers excellent educational/training opportunities in theatre and clinics as well as regular teaching sessions in the form of Journal clubs, Symposia, Workshops and Case Based discussions.
Applicants must hold full GMC registration and have achieved foundation trainee level competencies. Applicants should also possess the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, have good interpersonal skills, have caring attitude towards patients and evidence of good clinical practice.

Main duties of the job
The successful appointee will be working alongside ward colleagues as well as opportunity to attend theatre lists including emergencies . Participation in the full shift on call rota (1:19 with prospective cover) sharing with Urology, covering Sandwell General Hospital, including post-take ward round .
A large majority of activities are consultant led. Inpatient work includes review of ENT elective/emergency patients, attending both elective and emergency theatre, and attendance on consultant/registrar ward rounds as well as performing ward rounds independently when necessary.
This post has a varied weekly timetable, which includes clinical commitments and opportunity to attend theatre lists. The post-holder will be responsible for the care of both elective ENT inpatients as well as acute admissions via A&E under the supervision of a reg/consultant. There are excellent educational opportunities within the department, Audit and research activities are actively encouraged.
This post is non training and a supportive job and the duties can be changed as per the requirements of the department but sufficient experience is provided in ENT
