Job summary
In 2024 our new hospital, the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital, will open, bringing together teams providing acute and emergency care. At this time of both challenging and exciting change for our organisation, and the NHS, we are seeking to appoint an experienced nurse to join us as a member of the Tissue Viability team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a registered nurse who has a passion for wound care to join a highly motivated Tissue viability team within an integrated Trust which includes community and Hospital settings. The Tissue viability team aim to promote the delivery of high quality, patient focused evidence based practice. The team objectives are aligned to national and local agreed quality agendas and the promotion of safe harm free care.
Main duties of the job
We are seeking to recruit an individual who has relevant knowledge, skills and experience in pressure ulcer and complex wounds and leg ulcer management. As a tissue viability specialist nurse you will provide specialist assessment, care planning for a range of complex wounds and provide advice on ongoing management, supporting the delivery of evidence based wound management. A key element of the role is the provision of education, training and support to members of the MDT, therefore teaching experience is desirable. The individual should have excellent communication and organisational skills, alongside the ability to challenge and embed best practice across the Trust.
About us
Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust is an integrated care organisation. Over the next five years the Trust has three strategic objectives:
- Our People - to cultivate and sustain happy, productive, and engaged staff
- Our Patients - to be good or outstanding in everything we do
- Our Population - to work seamlessly with our partners to improve lives
To achieve this, we are commencing a new care improvement programme across the Trust. The Fundamentals of Care programme will bring together our Doctors, our Nurses and Allied Health Professionals, and our Operational Leaders, in a joint improvement programme for the first time. Fundamentals of Care is a Trust-wide initiative; it will empower our five Clinical Groups to work on what issues matter most to their patients and staff, supported by our Corporate Group.
Harm free care will be a core theme that is evident within the Fundamentals of Care improvement programme and the nine standards.
