Over view of the job role
We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, innovative and progressive Consultant to join our Ophthalmology Consultant team. The appointee will cover both sites, City Hospital, Birmingham and Sandwell General Hospital during the on call. Applications are welcomed from candidates with FRCS (or equivalent) who are on the General Medical Council's Specialist Register Ophthalmology or who will be within six months of obtaining their CCT at the time of interview. In addition applicants should demonstrate within their application that they are fully trained in cataract surgery, and comprehensive experience in Ophthalmology general, emergency setting , a fellowship experience will be desirable as well as another area of subspecialist will be welcomed. This job is a Fixed Term Post

Main duties of the job
The post will enable the successful applicant to develop seamless and bilateral flow of service between community / primary care and secondary care at SWBH.
The appointee will take equal responsibility with existing Consultants for the proper functioning of the clinical service, working with clinical and managerial colleagues towards achieving and maintaining national maximum waiting times and developing clinical pathways in line with the maximum 18-week patient pathway guarantee. There is a commitment to General Ophthalmology on-call as part of this post
