12 Month Secondment/Fixed Term Contract

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated exercise physiologist to join the Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust Cardiac Rehabilitation service. This will be an excellent opportunity for you to enhance your skills in caring for cardiac patients. Our service provides care to patients from Phase III- IV. We provide a service to patients from a variety of backgrounds and those that have a wide range of cardiac disease, including ACS, cardiac surgery, heart failure, heart transplantation, valve disease, device implantation, as well as vascular disease. As a band 5 Exercise Physiologist you will play a key role in providing exercise prescription for cardiovascular exercise and other conditions. You will also be involved with the delivery and evaluation of the exercise programme as well as the education components in phase III and IV. This will include delivery of face to face as well as virtual exercise and education sessions.

The post will involve cross-site working and some evening work.

Main duties of the job

Delivery of the exercise component of cardiac rehabilitation (Phases III - IV) both within the acute trust and primary care setting.

To advise individuals with coronary heart disease and other conditions on the most suitable form of physical activity and to promote lifelong healthy habits.

Contribute to the delivery of the educational component of cardiac rehabilitation.

To maintain and improve standards of professional practice in order to enhance the quality of care for a defined client group.

To establish new and innovative working practices in collaboration with health, leisure and social services and other agencies

Promoting research, in the provision of evidence based practice, collecting and evaluating audit data.
