BRAND NEW POST following significant funding into Nutrition and Dietetics

We are looking for an innovative individual who is driven to establish, shape and grow outstanding dietetic services working with the hospital catering team to shape the hospital menu's and meal time services available for service users and staff. Working with care homes and community teams to promote nutritional pathways and first line nutritional support; develop menus and nutritional screening with the aim of delivering long-term savings for GPs. The role is funded for 2 days a week in acute services and 3 days a week working with community services.

Candidates will be joining a service at a time of considerable opportunity. You will need to use highly developed interpersonal skills to quickly establish and foster strong relationships with a range of key stakeholders to lead developments to meet our population demands.

The appointee will be overseeing implementation of best nutritional care for the patients within the Trust.

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting new role at an exciting time for Dietetics, Allied Health Professionals and Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS trust as we seek to prepare for our move to the brand new Midlands Metropolitan University Hospital in 2023 bringing lots of opportunities for future development.

You would be joining our ambitious and forward-thinking therapies structure and the duties of this exciting role will include leading on the development of menus and system-wide pathways optimising the nutritional provision of institutions in hospital and the community setting.

You would be working as an advanced clinician and providing line management to a community specialist care homes dietitian.

This post strongly aligns with the MDT and post registration dietetic experience in nutrition support and a genuine interest and enthusiasm to train others and support development and optimisation of nutritional screening and meal times and nutritional pathways is required.

The service aims to optimise the nutritional provision for service users working with MDTS and teams within the hospital and community catering services. This is a fantastic new opportunity and falls on the back of recent European level evidence of the value of dietetic input within catering services.

The Nutrition and Dietetics Department is a team of 27; based across Sandwell and West Birmingham. We have regular departmental meetings, clinical supervision sessions and education meetings. Continuing professional development is promoted and supported.

The Department trains student dietitians from Coventry and Birmingham City Universities across the full range ofplacements.

There is excellent administrative support, good IT facilities and access to modern Trust library facilities.
