We are seeking to recruit two enthusiastic, innovative and progressive Consultants to join the General or Obstetric group of Anesthetists at the SWBH NHS Trust, Birmingham. The applicant must be on the GMC specialist register or, if currently in training, must be eligible to be on the specialist register within six months of the interview date. Applicants must have wide training and experience in obstetric and or General anaesthesia. Requirements for training are described in the Person Specification.
These are substantive jobs to meet the increase workload.

Main duties of the job
Two new consultants are required to join the General or Obstetric group of Anesthetists at the SWBH NHS Trust, Birmingham. These jobs have been created to meet the increasing anaesthetic and Peri-operative activity.
Applicants with Obstetric interest will join a team of 12 obstetric anesthetists and will join the nonresident 1 in 12 Obstetric on-call rota at City Site.
Those wishing to apply for the General post will join the non-resident 1 in 12 General on-call rota at Sandwell Site.
Further sub-specialty interests can be accommodated depending on capacity within the department.

Essential
- Fellowship of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (FRCA) or equivalent.
- Entry on the Specialist Register in Anaesthesia, (or entry expected within 6 months from the date of interview).
- Advanced Training in Obstetric Anaesthesia (or evidence of equivalent experience) - Obs Post as specified in the RCoA's 2010 CCT in Anaesthetics (Annex E).
