Job description

Job responsibilities

SWBH NHS Trust provides care for an urban and diverse population of over half a million and stroke services are delivered at the Sandwell Hospital where we admit over 700 confirmed strokes annually. The Trust is preparing to move the acute services in the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital in 2022.

Our hyperacute pathway is supported by dedicated Stroke Alert Nurses that ensure timely delivery of the diagnostic and therapeutic components and admission to the Unit. Decision making is consultant led 24/7.

We are actively participating in clinical research and run a RCP accredited course for the management of hyperacute stroke twice a year. We have developed a robust Clinical Governance structure.

The appointees are expected to work across the whole stroke pathway and support governance, training, education and research.

We therefore welcome to our team two enthusiastic and dynamic clinicians who can demonstrate a commitment to team working and an ability to participate in the delivery of modern stroke medicine.

The post does not involve work or on-call commitments for acute medicine. However, this can be reviewed to accommodate individual special interest or wish to maintain acute GIM skills.

For an informal discussion please contact Dr Sissi Ispoglou, Stroke Speciality Lead or Dr Kamel Sharobeem, Clinical Director for Admitted Care A on 0121 507 3636.

Closing date: 15th September 2021
