Job summary

It is an exciting time to join our Pharmacy team at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust! We are looking for an enthusiastic and well-motivated pharmacist to deliver a high quality pharmacy service to our specialist Sexual Health Services, as part of a multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will take the lead, manage and develop our pharmacy services to this area, in addition to senior leadership duties within the wider pharmacy team across our Trust.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant would be an integrated member of the Sexual Health Services team, participating in MDT clinics at the Lyng Health Centre in West Bromwich. The post holder is expected to actively lead on all clinical and pharmacy governance aspects of the service, including pharmacist input into HIV clinics, hepatitis treatment planning and GUM services.

Close working relationships with the SWB Homecare Hub and the clinical and operational pharmacy team are required to ensure that medication treatment supply is optimised for all patients within the specialist area, whether being treated within the acute hospital setting, via homecare or community clinic services.

You will act as a role model for junior staff, participating fully in senior leadership within the department. This would include delivery of training and assessments and line management duties.

We are a progressive department and are keen to embrace innovative ideas. Following significant investment, our pharmacy department has led the innovations in automated storage (Pyxis) across our most acute areas of work, and improved drug security, utilising Abloy keys, across the rest of the organisation. Robotic dispensing is well established and we have successfully implemented Electronic Prescribing and Administration throughout the Trust, we provide a seven day service to the Trust.

We are an integrated Trust with PCNs, GP partnerships and community services under our umbrella, including Sexual Health services. We have excellent relationships with our primary care colleagues across the interface, allowing us to provide the best care for the patients of Sandwell and West Birmingham.

We willbe moving to the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital in 2022.
