Job summary

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic individual to lead the development and implementation of our Finance Academy for the South East. This pivotal role will involve creating and delivering a comprehensive training and development program to meet the evolving needs of our constituent organisations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a strategic plan for the Finance Academy, aligning it with the needs of the South East finance community.
  • Design and deliver a diverse range of training programs and events, covering a broad spectrum of finance topics.
  • Manage and optimize a £150k annual budget to achieve maximum impact.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior finance professionals across approximately 40 organizations.
  • Collaborate with the HFMA branch to ensure efficient administration and organisation of academy activities

Ideal Candidate

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a Director of the South East Academy who will be responsible for leading the Academy and ensuring that all National One NHS Finance initiatives are delivered within the South East region as well as locally agreed initiatives. You will work closely with NHS England, the Department of Health and Social Care, and the representative professional bodies for all functions.

Working alongside the Chief Finance Officers and their teams in NHS organisations across the South East of England and with multiple national bodies to ensure that the complex development needs of all staff are met.

The post holder must hold a full, valid, UK driving licence and have access to a car/vehicle to use for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).

  • At least 5 years' experience working at a senior management level within the NHS
  • 3 years' experience managing senior finance staff in an organisation
  • Demonstrate success in the development of a number of leadership programmes for multidisciplinary staff ensuring these programs are reflective of up to date practices
  • Experience in the development of the NHS finance, informatics & procurement functions at both local and national level

Desirable

  • Experience of developing national apprenticeship frameworks
