Job summary

It's a great time to be a part of the Community Mental Health Team in Medway, we are developing the Clinical Care Pathways leading to an improved and innovative service for our Service Users, Carers and Staff.

If you are interested in becoming a lead health care professional andyou are focused on promoting recovery for those people diagnosed with severe and enduring mental ill health. We provide comprehensive multi-disciplinary services and work closely with local specialist mental health teams, tertiary service providers, primary care, local statutory and non-statutory agencies, service users and carers.

We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic mental health nurse and who has a strong sense of initiative and an excellent team working ability.

Main duties of the job

The Senior Mental Health Nurse is a key clinical leader within the multidisciplinary care team and will have continuing responsibility to assess, plan, coordinate, deliver and evaluate care, communicate findings,influence and drive change and promote health and best practice, patient safety and experience. The Mental Health Nurse will be professionally accountable to the Executive Director of Nursing, and operationallyaccountable to the Matron / Clinical Service Manager.

Effective communication skills and self-governance are required. You will be able to demonstrate knowledge of high level interventions & community assessment skills. Existing qualifications or a willingness to undertake training relevant to the post is expected.

Experience

Essential

  • Registered on NMC
  • One year experience at Band 5 or above in hospital or community health care
  • Evidence of continued professional development, appropriate to role
  • Clear understanding of CPA and care coordination role

Desirable

  • Post-registration certificate ENB 998. Possession of specialist nursing or other relevant highter academic or skills focussed awards
  • Post registration mentorship qualification

Skills/Knowledge

Essential

  • Good IT skills
  • Good understanding of the principles of the Recovery Approach

Desirable

  • Excellent IT skills
  • Understanding of interagency skills
