Job summary

We are offering an exciting opportunity for an Occupational Therapist who would like to develop and consolidate their clinical skills within one of our Community Mental Health Teams for Older Adults.

You would be working alongside the Multi-Disciplinary team, with service users experiencing functional mental illness.

The job plan for this post would include undertaking Occupational Therapy assessments using MohoExplor and other specialist O.T assessments, formulating goals with the person and their family/Carers and offering individual and group interventions such as Health and Wellbeing groups, Transitions groups, Initial Interventions.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be able to work as a team member as well as autonomously and manage a small case load of non-CPA service users with a functional illness, who may have complex needs. You will work collaboratively with service users, staff, and carers to identify goals to determine and deliver an appropriate intervention/recovery plan which maximises occupational engagement and performance whilst balancing risk, and promoting choice and independence, and be able to monitor and evaluate the interventions in order to measure progress and increase efficacy for the best possible service user outcomes and experience.

The post holder will have the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing; be computer literate and have the knowledge of and ability to apply national policies and procedures including confidentiality, consent, risk management and service user involvement.

Qualifications

Essential

  • BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy

Desirable

  • Further training in working with older people and functional illness or other related field, Full clean driving License and car owner

Knowledge of mental health conditions

  • Mental health / dementia experience (2) expressed interest in client group (2) awareness of legislation (1)

Desirable

  • Experience of delivering 1:1 and/or group interventions
