Job summary

To provide strategic professional leadership to the SCPT provision within CRCG, ensuring the planning and development of a systematic response to service need, interpreting professional policies and ensuring that the service operates at the highest level of quality and current best practice, with research and development a major responsibility and taking a major role in the development and implementation of policy for the service system as a whole.

To be responsible for the operational management of the SCPT provision, holding a delegated budget (from the Lead Psychologist) and providing line management support to the staff within the service.

To provide clinical services at a high level of expertise, supporting and advising colleagues on all issues concerned with the practice of psychological therapies and providing expert clinical consultation and professional guidance to other psychological practitioners.

Main duties of the job

To lead a large multi-professional staff team across Kent in developing and maintaining the highest standards of formal psychological therapy, developing and implementing service policy to integrate the provision of different models and modalities of intervention in an effective way with other tiers of psychological services and with the mental health services as a whole.

The post forms part of the Community Recovery Management Team the successful applicant will work with the rest of the Management Team to develop community services.

We are delighted to be recruiting an experienced psychological practitioner to the Lead for Psychological Practice post for the Community Mental Health Teams and Personality Disorder Services.

As part of the care group senior management team you will be pivotal in supporting current developments such as the implementation and embedding of the Clinical Care Pathways. You will also be key in developing multi-disciplinary working and will work closely with the Clinical Director and Professional Leads to realise this across community services.

As the Lead for Psychological Practice you will be essential in supporting the Kent & Medway system in the implementation of the Community Mental Health Framework. You will be expected to work across the system to ensure a seamless transition for people needing to access psychological interventions at all levels.

Cross care group working is crucial for smooth transitions and high quality, safe patient care and you would be expected to work with other care group colleagues to guarantee that this as a priority.

Essential

  • Degree in Psychology
  • Post-graduate doctorate in clinical / counselling psychology (or its equivalent) as accredited by the BPS.
  • Relevant advanced specialist training/qualifications in the skills relevant to the specialty area judged to meet BPS standards for consultant grade by National External Assessment

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working as a qualified clinical /counselling psychologist for a minimum of six years, including substantial post-qualification highly specialist level experience within the specialty.
  • Substantial training and experience supervising Doctoral psychology trainees.
  • Sound management skills and experience
