Job summary
To participate in the provision of psychological services to adults with severe and enduring mental health difficulties within the Medway locality served by the Trust.
In particular:
To be responsible for the systematic provision of a Specialist Psychology/Psychotherapy Service to adults with severe and enduring mental health difficulties within the Medway secondary care mental health services. To undertake high quality direct (assessment and therapeutic) and indirect (consultative, advisory and evaluative) specialist psychological interventions in these services taking substantial professional responsibility and making autonomous clinical decisions about own professional practice.
To ensure the clinical effectiveness of own practice and of service functioning by undertaking research and development activities relevant to the service area.
Main duties of the job
The Medway locality service comprises a well-staffed, cohesive and supportive team of Psychologists, Psychotherapists and Specialist Counselling providing CBT, MBT, EMDR, Arts Psychotherapies, and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. We are currently recruiting after many years of valued staffing stability in the team. We have a well-established group programme including MBT and supervise a range of CBT-informed interventions delivered by our CMHT colleagues. There are close links with the Salomons Clinical Psychology training course and we typically have both trainee clinical psychologists and trainee psychiatrists (psychotherapy cases) and honorary psychotherapists/psychologists on placement. The psychological therapies service is committed to providing regular, high quality supervision to support ongoing staff development.
