Job summary

It's an exciting time to join us as we have recently received additional funding to expand and develop our Single Point of Access (SPoA) Service. This means we have a number of opportunities for qualified staff to join our innovative and welcoming team.

SPoA provides urgent mental health help and support over the phone to clients who are not currently receiving care and treatment from KMPT services.It also provides a referral management function. This is a critical role within the organisation as the first point of contact for those contacting secondary mental health care.

Clients contacting the service can speak directly to a Registered Mental Health professional (Nurse or Occupational Therapist) who will discuss their needs and identify the appropriate onwards support as required, either through signposting to primary care services or onwards referral to the appropriate secondary care service. Triage is undertaken via telephone-screening.

Main duties of the job

We are currently recruiting RMNs or OTs with mental health experience to become part of our clinically led Single Point of Access team in a variety of Band 6 roles.

We have a full-time roles available and the service operates across the full 24/7 period. The shift pattern consists of Earlies (0730hrs - 1530hrs), Lates (1400hrs - 2200hrs) and Nights (2000hrs - 0800hrs)

The successful candidates will join a growing multi-disciplinary team holding responsibility for triaging urgent and emergency referrals and the onward coordination into KMPT services across Kent and Medway.

We are looking for professionals with at least 12 months post qualification experience, who have excellent communication skills and a commitment to providing patient centred care. As a call centre based team,candidates must be IT literate with the ability to enter details into our clinical systems in a timely manner.

Our team base is currently Eastern and Coastal Area Offices in Canterbury.

The SPOA Clinician will work within the Mental Health referral management telephone triage service, which provides Urgent and Emergency Mental Health support to adult clients who are not currently receiving care and treatment from KMPT Services.

SPOA receive referrals for all of Kent & Medway Mental Health Services, we are the entry point into the secondary Mental Health pathway; delivering the right care at the right time.

Our service is delivered 24 hours a day, 7 days per week, and 365 days a year.

The post holder will be expected to work across the shift pattern to ensure the delivery of the service.

The SPOA clinician will work to promote effective inter-disciplinary and inter-agency relationships and acting as a link between clients, professionals and other services to ensure continuity of care.

The post-holder will be trained by us to provide a skilled telephone triage to individuals experiencing mental health difficulties.

The Single Point of Access offer an onward booking system to those patients accepted into Secondary Care, where appropriate we provide signposting advice and transfer to Primary care.
