Job summary
We are offering an exciting opportunity for an Occupational Therapist who would like to develop and consolidate their clinical skills within Dementia work in one of our Community Mental Health Teams for Older Adults.
You would be working alongside the Multi-Disciplinary team and within the new Enhanced Memory Assessment Service supporting diagnosis through O.T assessments and the Post diagnostic pathway supporting patients and their families/carers in their journey following diagnosis.
The job plan for this post would include undertaking Occupational Therapy assessments using MohoExplor and other specialist O.T assessments, formulating goals with the person with Dementia and their family/Carers and offering individual and group interventions such as Cognitive Stimulation Therapy groups and co - facilitating our Living Well with Dementia groups.
The post holder would also be required to undertake a Duty role within the team as required.
There is a comprehensive management & clinical supervision structure in place to support you in your role and good opportunities for in- house and external Professional development through training, coaching and leadership opportunities.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will have an induction into the team and offered support to achieve the main duties. This will allow you to grow as a clinician and demonstrate your skills and personality. You will have a caseload of community-based clients which would involve monitoring and assessment of mental health, risk and coordinating treatment plans. This also provides the opportunity to work closely with family and other services such as voluntary groups and stakeholders.
This is a unique opportunity to work in the field of mental health and memory services. You will develop skills in the memory service pathway including assessment, diagnosis and aftercare that is only offered in this care group.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop organisational skills and clinical confidence. As a key member of the multi-disciplinary team as a Band 6 clinician you will be working autonomously but you will have access to the support from the wider team. The multi-disciplinary team that you are a part of consists of admin team, Mental health Support Workers, Psychologists, Consultant Psychiatrists, Nursing and Occupational Therapy colleagues. This is a very hard-working dedicated team providing plenty of opportunity to discuss clinical cases and support.
