LIMS Project Director

Information:

This job is now closed

Job summary

We are looking for an engaging and experienced project director with an excellent track record of leading transformational change across multiple organisations to lead the implementation of a new single LIMS across laboratories in Kent and Medway.

The design and implementation of a single LIMS is the top clinical priority for the newly formed Kent and Medway Pathology Network and a key enabler of service change and improvement. Its successful implementation will be vital for building a network which has standardised ways of working, high levels of productivity and quality and is sustainable and resilient.

Main duties of the job

The LIMS Project Director will report through the programme manager to the Director of Pathology Transformation and the chair of the LIMS steering group; and will be part of the Programme Management team. The LIMS steering group reports to the programme team and programme board chaired by one of the acute hospital trust chief executive officers with senior responsible officers from each trust and the CCG. The full business case for LIMS will be going through approval and the preferred supplier selected by the time the successful candidate starts in post.

The LIMS Project Director will be responsible for the delivery of the implementation of the project and for the appointment and management of the project team. They will work closely with the pathology IT teams and Trust IT directors.

About us

Kent and Medway Pathology (South 8 network) is an alliance of three pathology services and four acute hospital trusts in Kent and Medway, in partnership with NHS Kent and Medway Clinical Commissioning Group.

The network is made up of seven laboratories across East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust, Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust and North Kent Pathology Services (hosted by Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust and providing services to Medway Foundation Trust).

The network vision is based around:

  • A single laboratory information management system (LIMS) and managed services contract (MSC);
  • A Director of Pathology Transformation who will work closely with teams and services to design and implement service changes which benefit the whole network;
  • A commitment to consider a single management structure at a point in the future; and,
  • A general agreement to collaborate, and to align processes and Standard Operating Procedures where it makes sense to do
