Medical Doctoral Fellowship Scheme 2023

On behalf of the Department of Research and Innovation at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust I am pleased to announce the launch of the 2023 round of Medical Doctoral Fellowships. Following the success of the 2022 scheme through which six trainees were awarded fellowships we will be making up to six further awards in 2023.

The funding scheme open to any doctor in specialty training rotating through University Hospitals Sussex. Fellows will be funded to take 2-3 years out of their clinical training and undertake a dedicated period of research training towards an MD or PhD, subject to agreement from their training programme director.

The Scheme is a joint initiative by the Trust, Health Education England (KSS) and Brighton and Sussex Medical School. It will increase opportunities for patients and staff at the Trust to participate in research that improves the quality of the care we give. It will create opportunities for research developed locally to meet the needs of our patients, increase opportunities for staff to make research part of their career development and nurture future research leaders.

A job description, application form and CV template can be downloaded here.

Further information about research opportunities at BSMS is available here.

A list of potential supervisors at BSMS is being collated and will be available here.
