Job summary
University Hospitals Sussex is a regional teaching hospital across several sites following recent merger of 2 large trusts.This is an exciting opportunity to be part of our Band 5 rotational scheme, with a large range of specialist areas forming a comprehensive programme of six monthly rotations. These rotations are based across 3 of our sites in Brighton, Haywards Heath and Newhaven. The Brighton base is currently undergoing massive buiding works and teams will be moving onto the new wards during your first rotation with us which will be a very exciting time.
You will work in a Team based structure with senior OT leads, but you will also be an integral part of the speciality MDT working closely with Physiotherapists to provide an integrated approach to rehabilitation and discharge.
We can offer:o A wide range of rotations including: Stroke Unit, Neuro-surgery, Sub-acute inpatient Neuro-rehab, Emergency Department and Hospital Rapid Discharge, Medical, Surgical, Respiratory, Dementia, Frailty and Re-ablement in our Community Ward.o A supportive working environment with regular supervisiono Support to develop your own supervision skills o Opportunity to contribute to service development
If you are newly qualified and awaiting registration and OT PIN number, we may be able to start you as a Band 4 whilst you are waiting ,to avoid delay with start date.
Main duties of the job
- Provide comprehensive Occupational Therapy service for an assigned caseload.
- Be proactive in addressing own Continuing Professional Development (CPD) needs.
- To play an active role as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Work closely with Physiotherapists to provide and integrated approach to rehabilitation and discharge
- To participate in a 7 day rota including shifts and weekend cover in rotations where required.
