Job summary
As a member of the Fracture Clinic Physiotherapy team you will assess, treat and clinically manage patients with acute musculoskeletal injuries. Your main role will be within the Virtual Fracture Clinic (VFC); you will work with the team to manage and prioritise the clinical caseload, triage and assess patients over the telephone and provide treatment and advice in line with VFC guidelines.
You will also have the opportunity to work alongside Orthopaedic consultant clinics to provide face-to-face physiotherapy treatment. The role includes supervising junior members of staff and students, initiating and participating in evidence based projects, and contributing to the in-service training programme.
This is a developmental role with potential to move to a band 7 role when aspects are met.
Main duties of the job
- As an autonomous practitioner, to assess and treat a specialist caseload of Orthopaedic patients, who may have complex presentations or complications, without direct supervision from senior staff.
- To work alongside Orthopaedic Consultants, Advanced Clinical Practitioners, senior physiotherapists and the wider MDT, to provide physiotherapy services for orthopaedic patients in the Fracture Clinic.
- To seek assistance when/where necessary and understand own professional limitations.
- To prioritise referrals according to clinical need.
- Maintain contemporaneous written and digital records to trust standards of all clinical observations and interventions

- Diploma in Physiotherapy or BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy or overseas equivalent
- Professional registration - Health and Care Professions Council
- Previous post graduate experience working as a Physiotherapist within the NHS supported by evidence of post graduate learning experience and its application to clinical practice
- Range of clinical rotations at Junior Physiotherapist, including at least one orthopaedic rotation/MSK rotation
- Evidence of relevant post graduate courses/CPD/reflective practice
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Developed clinical reasoning skills
- Awareness of research and making use of it to consider change
- Able to plan and prioritise own workload efficiently
