Job summary

The staff team at the Horizon Centre are excited to welcome applications for an experienced band 3 Health Care assistant, on our Assessment and Treatment Unit in Wakefield. This is an ideal opportunity for a motivated person that share our strong values.

The Horizon Centre is an 8 bedded Assessment and Treatment Unit that provides highly specialised assessment, formulation, and intervention for adults with a diagnosed learning disability, working in a person-centred way to meet each individuals needs. The service works within Positive Behavioural and therapeutic Support frameworks and provides trauma-informed care focused on treatment and recovery, with the aim of supporting the person back into the community and their everyday lives.

You will be joining an experienced and supportive team of doctors, nurses, nurse associates, trainee nurse associates, psychologists, Occupational therapists, Speech and Language therapist, healthcare assistants and allied health professions who work together with the person at the centre.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for someone who is motivated, enthusiastic person with the correct values, that can demonstrates a positive attitude to working with people with learning disabilities. The successful candidate will receive regular supervision and training to meet the role. You will be required to follow and implement person centered plans of care and Assessments, that is tailored to each individuals needs, in line with current national policies and legislation which govern current service provision for people with a learning disability.

  • Apprenticeship level 3 or equivalent eg, RQF(regulated Qualification Framework)NVQ level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent
