Job summary

Full Time - 37.5 Hours Per Week

We are looking for a qualified Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist with a commitment in bringing applied psychoanalytic thinking to improve outcomes of young people in our multi-disciplinary CAMHS team.

You will have post graduate training at masters/doctoral level in clinical child psychotherapy, accredited by the ACP and maintenance of ACP registration. You should have some experience within a CAMH setting. Experience of working independently in the community would be advantageous.

You will join a team of child and adolescent psychotherapists and trainees within our service and will be required to work autonomously within professional guidelines, being responsible for providing specialist assessments within the team. You will provide consultations, state of mind assessments and short- and longer-term psychotherapy. You will manage your own caseload, providing high-quality care appropriate to the young persons needs.

As a member of the team, you will contribute to the wider aims of the service through joint working, training, and supervision.

As this post will work across the Wakefield District you will be required to demonstrate a flexible approach to travel as you may see young people in different community settings as well as the CAMHS bases in the area.

In return we will provide regular clinical and management supervision and you will be appraised on a yearly basis with a view to developing knowledge and skills where appropriate.

Main duties of the job

Undertake child and adolescent psychotherapy assessments, plan and undertake therapeutic care with children, young people and their carers and develop psychoanalytic formulations. Provide supervision and consultation to other disciplines. Assess and manage risk and collaborate with teams within CAMHS and other agencies. Work in highly emotive settings whilst maintaining clinical boundaries. Complete and maintain clear, thorough clinical records according to trust policy and clinical governance. Complete concise and thoughtful written reports and letters. Promote inclusivity, kindness and compassion whilst working in partnership. Support service delivery in line with service need and the current priorities. Maintain registration as a child and adolescent psychotherapist and undertake appropriate training and learning.   5. To follow appropriate Adult and Child Protection guidelines in all Clinical work, including close liaison with all agencies.

  8. To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment and discharge of clients.
