We have an exciting opportunity for either a part-time or full-time highly motivated Speech & Language Therapist to join the Community Learning Disability Health Team, providing support to people who live in Kirklees.
The Community Health Team in Kirklees forms part of a wider multidisciplinary health team which include Psychiatry, Psychology, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Dietetic and the Intensive Support Team.
We are looking for a confident, motivated, and enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist to provide assessment, therapy, advice and support to adults with learning disabilities who have specific needs in relation to their communication and/or eating, drinking and swallowing.
The work will be undertaken in a variety of settings, including private and local authority day placements, residential homes, community setting and inpatient units.
We are dedicated to the personal and professional development of our staff via managerial supervision, peer support and the sharing of best practice.
Main duties of the job
You will be a highly motivated and conscientious individual, who has the desire to work creatively with people with learning disabilities.
We are looking for a dynamic person to join our current community team to provide the highest standards of safe and compassionate planned care to clients to maximise their independence and unlock their full potential.
You will be required to use your speech and language therapy skills to support the assessment and delivery of high-quality therapeutic interventions to address the holistic needs of service users with a focus on communication and dysphagia. This requires effective MDT working skills, close liaison with other agencies and the ability to interact with different people to meet the needs of the individual.
