An
exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic Advanced Nurse
Practitioner interested in delivering high quality and innovative services to
adults with ADHD. You will be joining a larger adult neurodevelopmental Team which
also covers adult Autism.
The
Service for adults with ADHD & Autism is one of the largest in the UK. It received
the prestigious ACOMHS accreditation awarded by the Royal College of
Psychiatrists in 2020. This award highlights to staff, service users and
carers, commissioners, and regulators of the quality of the Service provided.
We are proud to be the first Service working with people with adult
neurodevelopmental disorders ever to receive this accreditation.
Although
the Service base is in Wakefield, clinicians work across the Trust localities
in designated clinic bases. We are a

Main duties of the job
The
ADHD Pathway provides diagnostic assessments and specialist interventions for
people in the Wakefield, Kirklees, and Barnsley localities. The Service base is
in Wakefield and clinicians work agile using clinical bases and hot desk
facilities across the localities of the Trust.
The
successful candidate will hold a relevant professional qualification and Work
as an independent non-medical prescriber within Adult ADHD, taking
responsibility for the clinical assessment of the patient, initiating investigations,
determining a diagnosis and developing a personalised clinical management plan
in accordance with the Trusts non-medical prescribing policy and protocols.
The
successful candidate will demonstrate a willingness to undergo additional
training and a genuine interest in working with adults with ADHD is required.

The postholder will as a Senior Advanced Nurse Practitioner SANP, working within the RCN Advanced competency network, contributing to the strategic direction for the development of clinical practice within the ADULT ADHD service and across the Trust as required.
Leading on services consolidation as well as expansion in line with service and trust objectives and in partnership with the Clinical lead and General manager.
The post holder will take the lead in extending boundaries within SWYPFT and Primary Care and creating frameworks for the enhancement of clinical practice to improve investigation, intervention and treatment of people with Adult ADHD.
The post holder will continue to strive towards excellence in clinical care and communicate this excellence to colleagues both within, acting as a role model in care and behaviour.
Work as an independent non-medical prescriber within Adult ADHD, taking responsibility for the clinical assessment of the patient, initiating investigations, determining a diagnosis and developing a personalised clinical management plan in accordance with the Trusts non-medical prescribing policy and protocols.
KEY RESULT AREAS:
- Expert clinical practice within the service for at least 60% of the post, including Clinician led clinics and and clinical diagnosis and Independent prescribing for people with Adult ADHD.
- Professional leadership, consultancy and clinical supervision, within the service, to the wider service, including Primary Care and other agencies.
- Be the identified clinical supervisor to other Advanced Clinicians, members of the MDT and other colleagues, regarding clinical and prescribing practice.
- Education, training and development of staff, and a range of other agencies, including GPs and other medics in the management/ treatment services for Adult ADHD.
- Monitor national developments in policy and guidance, and advice the Trust on implications for practice, and lead on development of policy into practice and to ensure clear communication of such policies.
