The
Trust is commissioned to provide a Inpatient and Community
Learning Disability Service to the West Yorkshire & Barnsley ICB, to support
individuals with a Learning Disability and Autism Spectrum Disorder who display
acute behavioral disturbance and to safely manage the ensuing risks. We are looking
to recruit a full-time consultant for this service. The post holder will be working
in a split role, two and half days in the Horizon Assessment and Treatment Unit
and two and half days in the Wakefield Adult LD Community Service.

Essential
- Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
- Included on the GMC Specialist Register for Learning Disability/General adult psychiatry OR within six months of gaining CCT.
- Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 6 months of appointment.
- Approved under S12 OR able to achieve within three months of appointment.
Desirable
- In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice.
- Experience working in other medical specialties including general medicine, geriatric medicine and A&E.
- Experience in working in Learning Disability services.
Qualifications
Essential
- MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
Desirable
- Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
- MRCPsych.
- Additional clinical qualifications.
Experience
Essential
- Excellent knowledge in specialty.
- Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
