JOB SUMMARY:
The post holder will be responsible for managing the work of the Trusts marketing, communications and engagement function and service offer aligned to two or more of its Business Delivery Units / Quality Academy functions.
The post holder will provide comprehensive specialist advice and support to communications, engagement, public relations and marketing activities throughout the Trust, which raise the profile of the Trust and its services externally and facilitate sharing of information and good practice internally.
Responsibilities will include ensuring staff, Trust members and other stakeholders are kept informed of key strategic issues and creating ongoing opportunities for people to contribute ideas and share good practice through written, verbal and electronic communications. This will include developing constructive relationships with the media to promote the Trusts activities and managing adverse publicity.
The post holder will also be responsible for co-ordinating specific communications activities in support of key projects, and for supporting staff in Business Delivery Units and other support functions in managing the strategic public relations impact of decisions.
The post holder plays a key role in the Trusts transformation agenda and is responsible for developing and delivering communications and engagement plans and strategies for several organisation-wide transformation programmes, as well as assisting with strategic business planning by providing expert communications and marketing advice.
KEY RESULT AREAS:
- Provide specialist communications and marketing advice and support, aligned to the Trusts Business Delivery Units, in strategic planning, business development and other support functions in line with strategic priorities.
- Line-manage and set priorities for members of the marketing, communications and engagement team, ensuring all activity undertaken supports delivery of the Trusts marketing, communications and engagement service offer and accords with the Trusts mission and values. Ensure effective departmental systems and processes are in place to facilitate communications and feedback.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of internal and external marketing, communications and engagement activity, reporting on the same to the Head of Marketing, Communications and Engagement and responding to feedback as appropriate.
- Oversee the production of a range of news output for Trust members, stakeholders and staff, ensuring a balance of coverage across Trust services and monitoring work plans from ideas generation through to production both digital and print.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with the media, maximising opportunities to raise the profile of the Trust and its services. Oversee the response to media requests in a timely and appropriate manner and work to minimise adverse publicity, taking account of confidentiality issues at all times.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the Trusts digital channels, ensuring accurate and up to date electronic information for staff, members, commissioners, stakeholders and the public.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the Trusts use of social media, including analysis and reporting mechanisms as well as making best use of commissioned film.
- Plan and co-ordinate specific projects as required for example, organisation of events (including staff recognition events), official openings, service visits and inspections (eg CQC), staff engagement, health and wellbeing campaigns.
- Work collaboratively with people who use Trust services and their carers to share service user experience though appropriate channels and increase public confidence in Trust services.
- Assist in the production of corporate information and corporate documents as required, ensuring the needs of the intended audience are met.
- Develop and lead communication strategies for key initiatives, for example transformation programmes.
- Oversee material produced by graphic designers and suppliers, ensuring output supports strategic priorities and appropriate brand application to support reputation management.
- Liaise with partners in health, local authority and other organisations to ensure consistency of messages. Represent the organisation as appropriate via participation in local, regional and national groups and networks.
- Lead on the marketing of Trust products aligned to Business Delivery Unit areas, this may include locally, regionally or nationally, providing expert strategic and creative advice.
- Deputise for the Head of Marketing, Communications and Engagement as required in regards the Trusts marketing, communications and engagement agenda.

abide by relevant codes of professional practice, with the organisation taking action when codes of conduct are breached;
work flexibly to meet the needs of the service/organisation, whilst working within a culture of progressive employment practices and commitment to the Investors in People (IiP) Standards.

In addition to the Trusts own responsibilities under the Health and Social Care Act 2008, Code of Practice on the prevention and control of infections and related guidance, for your safety, ALL staff (and contractors) are responsible for ensuring their work adheres to this Code in the delivery of safe patient care.
This job description is an outline of the main duties of the post. The postholder will be required to undertake other duties commensurate with the band as directed.
