The Cashier will be responsible for delivering a twice weekly cashier service in our Medium Secure Unit, Newton Lodge.

The role involves dealing with staff and service users, so individuals need to be confident dealing with people.

It is very important to be confident when handling money and ensuring a high level of accuracy.

The Cashier will be supported by a small experienced team and will ensure all appropriate training is delivered.

At the time of advertising, this role does not meet the minimum requirements set by UK Visas and Immigration to sponsor candidates to work in the UK. For this reason, we are unable to sponsor anyone for a skilled worker visa for this role.

We are happy to accept applications from candidates who can prove their right to work in the UK or via alternative visa routes. Such applications will be considered alongside all other applications.

Main duties of the job

The Cashier will provide a twice weekly cashiering service within Newton Lodge. This involves giving staff and service users monies from Patient Bank accounts, held within the Trust.

The Cashier will need to follow process and complete the necessary paperwork when handing out cash, this involves completing patient passbooks.

The Cashier will have their own float which will need reimbursing weekly, the Cashier will be responsible for calculating the reimbursement before submitting to the Finance team.

JOB SUMMARY

The postholder will be responsible for the provision of a banking service within the Forensic unit of Newton Lodge.

The post holder will work closely with service users, and will have responsibility for issuing cash and completing the necessary paperwork in relation to these accounts.

KEY RESULT AREAS:

1.Function provision:

To provide a banking service to Newton Lodge patients, ensuring that the relevant procedures are followed, including handling of cash and completing relevant paperwork.

To be responsible for reimbursement of weekly float, ensuring that this reconciles to the relevant paperwork.

To be able to communicate sensitively with potentially volatile patients and ensure that the service runs smoothly.

To provide cover for the main banking facility at Fieldhead as and when required.

To undertake other duties as commensurate with the grade as directed.

1.2 Working as part of a Team:

This role will work within the Finance Team, as well as working with staff in Newton Lodge while running the banking sevice on site.

1.3 Managing Self:

The post holder will be expected to work autonomously without exceeding their remit. This means working flexibly to meet changes in priorities but ensuring all work is completed on a timely basis.

1.4 Management Supervision and Support:

The post holder will be managed by the Patient Affairs Officer.

1.5 Financial Responsibility:

The postholder is responsibility for the running of the banking service at Newton Lodge, ensuring safe keeping of the monies held and accurate record keeping in line with Trust Standing Financial Instructions.
