Job summary
As a Senior Workforce Information Analyst you will be responsible for providing insightful Workforce reports and information to a high standard across the Trust. There will also be many opportunities to be innovative in the development of new reports using industry standard methods.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be responsible for the provision of regular reports across the Trust using existing systems and processes
To provide insightful analysis on reports and information provided
Lead the development of a new wider reporting system which meets the requirements of the Trust
Update existing and build new processes to provide workforce reports to the Trust

JOB SUMMARY
The post holder will be required to work with delegated authority from the People Planning and Performance Lead to manage Trust-wide Workforce Information systems, both in the continuous development and maintenance of systems and processes to enable the Trust to effectively manage and use information to support clinical needs and strategic business planning. They will provide in-depth analysis of workforce information, identifying trends and hot spots, benchmarking workforce data both internally and externally to the Trust and triangulating data with other Trust data sources. The role will be pivotal in progressing and maintaining a quality and responsive service to internal and external stakeholders, helping to develop workforce reports using the Trusts business intelligence tools and methodologies.
The post holder will use their initiative to identify opportunities for improvements and to produce high quality outputs, as well as prioritise their workload, work independently and professionally and with flexibility to meet the high demands of the post. Must be able to work under pressure, to tight deadlines exercising a high degree of autonomy, initiative and professionalism.
KEY RESULT AREAS:
The postholder will:
1.1 Care/service/function provision:
Establish and maintain efficient reporting mechanisms by collaborating with Trust Services to understand their business needs and how the People Planning & Performance Function can provide workforce information support.
Ensure the implementation of robust reporting systems that meet the requirements of the Trust Board, Performance Boards, Data Warehouse, and statutory bodies such as NHS England, NHS Improvement, Health Education England, and the Department of Health.
Offer expert guidance to colleagues across the wider team, ensuring the production of high-quality workforce information reports in appropriate formats for the intended audience.
Assist colleagues within the People Directorate in ensuring the accuracy and high standard maintenance of data held in the Electronic Staff Record (ESR). Support regular audits and data validation exercises conducted by the teams responsible for data management and input.
Develop and implement data governance frameworks and processes, where appropriate, to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and security of workforce data across the Trust.
Conduct highly complex workforce analysis, leveraging business intelligence tools and statistical analysis techniques to triangulate workforce information with finance and activity data. Identify trends and link them to the Trust's strategic aims.
Perform comprehensive analysis of people data, identifying patterns, trends, and improvement opportunities related to areas such as recruitment, retention, employee engagement, and workforce planning.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of data visualisation dashboards and interactive reporting tools to enhance data accessibility and promote self-service analytics.
Support workforce planning initiatives by conducting workforce scenario modelling, forecasting, and gap analysis. Provide strategic and tactical recommendations to address workforce challenges and optimise resource allocation.
Support the continuous development of Trust's business intelligence (BI) tools and methodologies, enabling effective workforce reporting. Provide training and support to users and collaborate with services to embed these tools.
Interpret workforce information and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), advising key stakeholders within the People Directorate, Service Managers and Leads, and other relevant colleagues on trends and areas requiring attention. Offer advice and potential solutions to address issues, as needed.
Respond to data requests and obligations by preparing cyclical and ad-hoc benchmarking reports for internal and external audiences and stakeholder groups. Ensure compliance with local and national requirements.
Provide specialist knowledge and advice on various workforce information systems and methodologies. Effectively communicate complex technical issues to non-technical audiences and provide coaching and training to Trust staff on the effective use of workforce information systems and reporting tools.
Contribute to the development and refinement of policies and procedures directly impacting the systems under the purview of this role.
Support the implementation of workforce systems and provide expert advice on workforce information requirements.
1.2 Working as part of a Team:
Act as a subject matter expert in workforce information analysis, providing guidance and mentoring as appropriate, contributing to a culture of knowledge sharing and professional development within the People Planning & Performance Function.
Collaborate with stakeholders within the People Directorate to understand their data and reporting requirements, specifically related to workforce management and people analytics.
Manage effective relationships with stakeholders from across the Trust, acting as a first point of call for workforce reporting related queries and activities, leveraging sound team working to ensure the best possible levels of service are maintained.
Responsibly represent the People Planning and Performance Function, in a variety of forums, both internally and externally.

Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and advancements in data analytics, business intelligence tools, and workforce planning methodologies. Apply this knowledge to enhance the Trust's workforce information capabilities and drive continuous improvement.
Manage highly complex or sensitive information that might affect staff and where appropriate, recommend evidence-based solutions in line with Human Resource policy.
Deputise, where appropriate, for the People Planning & Performance Lead at key service meetings to determine the implications arising for possible workforce reporting activity.
