My name is Lindsey Hoather, I am the team Manager for Wetherby YOI CAMHS. I am seeking a Band 4 Assistant Psychologist to join our multidisciplinary and multi-agency CAMHS team.

This is an opportunity for you to develop within a service that is embracing positive change and developing pathways of care to meet the diverse needs of children within the secure estate. The CAMH teams provides initial screening for all children entering the secure estate, in order to identify individual needs/risk and refer appropriately within the service.

We provide an MDT approach to the assessment, formulation and intervention planning for children, tailoring individuals care pathway to best meet their identified need and achieve the best possible outcome for them. We work to ensure that the team around the child is working together, with the child at the centre.

Main duties of the job

As part of the Children and Young Peoples transformation agenda, we are fully embedding the Framework for Integrated Care (SECURE STAIRS) alongside partner agencies.

This service development introduces a psychologically informed, multi-disciplinary approach to care which is formulation-driven and underpinned by an understanding of developmental trauma.

Within your role you will be supporting the development of formulations, working with children and engaging with teams. HMYOI Wetherby is the largest secure provision in the country for young males and females aged between 15 and 19.

The service is underpinned by the Framework for Integrated Care which is a developmentally and trauma informed mental health service. We are an integrated service working closely with the Primary Care Service and the establishment.

Clinical:

To undertake protocol based psychological assessments of clients applying psychological theory, including neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the clients care.

To assist in the formulation and delivery of care plans involving the psychological treatment and / or management of a clients problems, under the supervision of a HCPC registered Practitioner Psychologist.

To assist in the coordination and running of therapeutic groups or clinical projects.

To work with other staff to assess community patients and review their care in preparation for multi-disciplinary reviews.

To assist in the development of a psychological based framework of understanding and care to the benefit of all clients of the service, across all settings where care takes place.

To attend and contribute to appropriate multi-disciplinary meetings.

To respect diversity. To treat everyone with dignity and respect and act in ways that acknowledge and recognise peoples expressed beliefs, preferences and choices.

  • Experience of paid work in direct care provision, particularly in the care group of the specialty of this post.
