An opportunity has arisen
in this exciting team for a Band 4 Speech and Language Therapy Assistant. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a
developing community outreach service for people with a diagnosis of learning
disability and/or autism.
You will be working under the supervision of the Speech and Language
Therapists and be part of a wider multi-disciplinary team that provides
specialist support, assessment and treatment to people who have come into
contact or are at risk of coming into contact with the criminal justice system,
and/or have been admitted to a secure hospital setting.
You
will be a highly enthusiastic and motivated individual who will be able to use
initiative and apply intervention around identified communication needs in line
with developed plans of care, whilst managing risk and keeping the service user
in the centre of your practice.

Main duties of the job
This is an exciting
opportunity for a B4 associate SALT practitioner, ideally with some experience
working with learning disabilities, Autism and mental health. Enthusiasm for
working with this client group is essential as well as the ability to be
involved in and communicate complex communication needs.
The post holder will
contribute to a specialist communication service, using skills to assess,
advise and provide appropriate group and individual interventions to ensure
individuals communication strengths and challenges and recognised, supported
and maximised, under the guidance of a Speech and Language Therapist, RCSLT
clinical guidelines and the Five Good Communication Standards.
The work will be
undertaken in a variety of settings within community, secure and inpatient
settings. The post holder will liaise effectively with all relevant
professionals, carers, and family members to ensure the communication needs of
each individual are recognised and supported.
