We have an opportunity for an
exercise therapist to join our team and work alongside the MDT in the delivery
of the health and well being offer, initially within medium secure services,
however there maybe future opportunity to expand this to the low secure
services. We are currently looking to enhance our health and well being offer
within the service and as part of this we will be looking at the available
resource to support the exercise therapists within their role to deliver an
excellent service to our service users. The post holder will have experience of
developing and delivering exercise programmes both individually and with
groups. They will be responsible for the day to day organisation and working
arrangements for the gymnasium, exercise sessions and sports activities
contributing to the overall assessment and treatment of service users. They
will work alongside the MDT, including the Consultant Psychiatrist, Primary
Nursing Team, Primary Care service and Occupational Therapist to ensure a holistic
approach is adopted in supporting individuals in maintaining positive physical
and mental health.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be
responsible for working within the Yorkshire Centre for Forensic Psychiatry,
providing a service to the client group of mentally disordered adult offenders
with complex needs. Their mental health
difficulties are of a severe and challenging nature, and they include patients
with learning disabilities. This will be
under the direction and supervision of the General Manager within the service. He/she will be responsible for the day to day
organisation and working arrangements for the gymnasium, exercise sessions and
sports activities contributing to the overall assessment and treatment of
service users.
To apply a knowledge and
understanding of working with people in often severely disturbed and chaotic
psychological and emotional states, where there may be considerable obstacles
to the building of relationships and therapeutic interactions.
They will be able to develop
individualised plans to support health promotion and living a healthy
lifestyles, as indicated by the MDT assessment.
