An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 / 8a HCPC registered Clinical/Forensic/Counselling Psychologist to join our inpatient psychology team in low secure services on the Fieldhead Hospital site. You will be joining a supportive Psychology team and MDT passionate about delivering high quality trauma informed services using the latest evidence in Forensic Mental Health Care. The Bretton Centre is a low secure Mental Health Service for men with 38 beds across 3 wards. This includes an acute/assessment ward, a rehabilitation, and a pre-discharge ward. We also have one 16 bed low secure service for men with learning disabilities at Newhaven. The service offers a unique opportunity to hold a varied caseload with complex service users across different stages of their recovery. We have strong supervisory and professional networks as well as a focus on developing skills and offering further training in specialist forensic risk assessment and therapeutic interventions informed by a range of models.

Main duties of the job
The Clinical/Forensic/Counselling Psychologist will provide assessment and therapeutic interventions for the inpatient group, as well providing consultation, supervision and training to the service. The post-holder will receive regular clinical supervision from Clinical/Forensic Psychologists based within the forensic care group and further training in trauma focused therapies will be available. Experience of working with complex mental health needs and of working in secure settings would be desirable but enthusiasm for working with this client group is essential as well as the ability to develop and communicate complex formulations.The post is suitable for an experienced psychologist who is already working at an 8a banding and who wishes to develop their skills further in a forensic setting, or for a psychologist currently working at Band 7 interested in a Band 7/8a preceptorship
