You will lead
Occupational Therapy Assessment and intervention within Adel Beck Secure
Childrens Home. Adel Beck Secure Childrens Home is home to up to 24 young
people, remanded or sentenced, or placed under S.25 of the Childrens Act,
1989.
You will be expected to work alongside care and education professionals
as part of the team around the child, to promote and embed trauma informed ways
of working, and influence external professionals in seeking appropriate
transition packages for young people.
The pathway
provides assessment and intervention to some of the most complex children who
have a wide variety of needs including mental illness, trauma and
neurodevelopmental needs.
You will be required to manage a caseload of young
people, using evidence-based practice to support the needs of young people, and
support the wider service to embed best practice. Qualification in Sensory
Integration (or commitment to train) and experience working with complex
neurodiversity would be a strength.
You will be able
to embrace the fast pace of a Secure setting and the value of leading within a
truly multi-disciplinary team that promotes a holisitc approach to caring for
children & young people within a complex environment, providing
professional leadership to the team.
Main duties of the job
You will lead
the occupational therapy CAMHS service to young people within Adel Beck SCH.
This includes supporting colleagues to recognise where occupational therapy
input and assessment would be indicated, completing specialist assessment and
intervention, assessment of mental health and neuro-diverse presentation and
contribution to risk assessment/management.
Sensory Integration Therapy
Training would be useful given the high neurodevelopmental needs across the
estate, or a commitment to undertake the training.
Maintain a high
standard of clinical work when carrying clinical duties.
Demonstrate effective
leadership skills, championing occupational therapy within the MDT and across
the secure estate.
Contribute to
clinical MDT meetings and wider forums regarding the care needs of young
people.
Provide
professional support and supervision to junior OT colleagues.
Lead on
embedding occupational therapy interventions within custodial and educational
settings, supporting occupational staff in understanding the needs of young
people.
The role works
across 7 days, providing a service from 8am 8pm and there is an expectation
that you will contribute to this. Additionally, you will be expected to
contribute to the clinician on-call rota on weekends.
