The Calderdale and Kirklees
In-Patient Occupational Therapy team have an exciting opportunity for a
motivated and dedicated Band 6 practitioner to become part of our team. The
service is embracing positive change and developing pathways of care to meet
the diverse needs of adults and older people within an acute inpatient setting.
We are looking for a skilled Band 6
OT to join our team and provide specialist assessments and therapeutic
interventions for service users currently in receipt of in-patient mental
health care.
The post holder will work alongside a
dedicated multidisciplinary team comprising consultant psychiatrists, senior
clinical psychologists, nursing staff and physiotherapists.

Main duties of the job
We are looking for an innovative,
committed & caring OT, who will demonstrate sound clinical decision making,
work both autonomously & as part of the MDT. We pride ourselves on
providing the highest standard of assessment, treatment & client centred
care in a safe & therapeutic environment. The team supports the MDT in facilitating
safe & effective discharge of acute inpatients.
The service
operates over 7 days with OTAs covering weekends & Bank Holidays.Shifts
are 8.3016.30, & staff are expected to work one late shift a week. There is an expectation for all staff to cross ward
and cross site work where necessary. We are a supportive
therapy team that work closely with the wider MDT. We adopt a recovery-based
approach using evidence-based interventions and professional models of working
to inform our practice and ensure the delivery of high-quality care. A range of
1:1 interventions and therapeutic groups are provided.

The post holder will be part of a
cohesive and enthusiastic multi-disciplinary team. You will be involved in providing specialist occupational

using graded activity to achieve therapeutic goals.
To monitor, evaluate and modify treatment in
order to measure progress and ensure effectiveness of intervention.
To demonstrate a broad level of understanding
of the effect of disability and provide training and advice on lifestyles
changes and adaptations to the clients social and physical environment.
To be responsible for providing Occupational
Therapy advice in the multidisciplinary team assessment of service users and
carers to ensure that an integrated approach to assessment and treatment is
achieved and maintained.
To work proactively alongside ward staff, community
agencies and voluntary agencies to provide a seamless service for service users.
To maintain an effective communication network
within the team, and to liaise with other agencies and disciplines from the
voluntary and statutory sectors to ensure that service user needs are met.
To maintain up to date service user records and
activity data in accordance with professional and Trust standards.
To provide an
Occupational Therapy perspective in multi-disciplinary team meetings, ward
rounds, clinics and case conferences as required.
