My Name is Louise Holdsworth-Tulk and I am a Team Manager for the Kirklees Talking Therapies Service, here in Huddersfield and Dewsbury. We are a friendly and supportive service, where our staff are valued and contribute to service development. We have recently purchased an external training programme that offers ongoing CPD for all our clinicians.

I am excited to welcome applications for Senior Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (PWP) to work across Kirklees within the Talking Therapies Team. This is an ideal opportunity for qualified PWPs looking to broaden their experience working in primary care.

As an applicant you must have completed a Talking Therapies approved PWP training course and have experience of working in mental health services. Additionally, you will hold a Talking Therapies supervision qualification.

As a Senior Phycological Wellbeing practitioner you will provide Case management and Clinical Supervision to both qualified and trainee PWPs with the direction of our Specialist Psychotherapist.

We offer our assessments and treatment sessions via Face to Face, Telephone, Microsoft Teams, and group work.

Main duties of the job

My team provide NICE compliant psychotherapy incorporating CBT, Counselling and Guided Self Help to clients in primary care across Kirklees. This is an 8-8 service Monday to Friday, and we offer sessions either by Microsoft Teams, telephone or face to face.

We hold clinics both in Trust premises and also in primary care settings across the area to ensure that were, as much as possible, nearby for the people that use the service.

We treat clients with common mental health problems such as depression or anxiety and consistently achieve our recovery target of 52 per cent, for me thats important because it means were making a difference to peoples lives.

Job responsibilities

This is a new role which aims to offer a career progression for Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners.

The post-holder will work within the Kirklees IAPT service providing high volume low intensity interventions which will be a range of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) based self management interventions to support clients with mild to moderate anxiety and depression.

The post holder will provide Case Management Supervision for Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners and Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner trainees under the direction of the Senior High Intensity Workers.

To offer rapid screening and assessment, informed by knowledge of the spectrum of mental health needs and risk factors.

Provide assessment and low intensity interventions e.g. psycho-educational interventions, Guided Self Help, CBT to patients registered with Kirklees GP practices/health centres, drawing from CBT theories and techniques.

Work with colleagues in secondary mental health and other services locally to ensure the swift/appropriate transfer of patients between services.

Provide Case Management supervision to Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners and Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner Trainees.

Offer training to Primary Care staff in CBT based interventions.

Support GPs and other primary care workers in making appropriate referrals and in carrying out the mental health aspects of their own roles.

Provide a service that is comprehensive and accessible to a broad range of patients who have commonplace mental health problems and fulfil the criteria for the service.

Make appropriate referrals to other service providers in the statutory and voluntary sectors and redirect patients to other sources of appropriate support within the local community as required.

Liaise as appropriate with secondary care mental health services and social service departments.

Provide a service that is flexible as far as possible in terms of service hours.

Take responsibility for managing computerized CBT, ensuring appropriate use and provision, including monitoring of alerts.

Take a mentor role with trainee or inexperienced Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners.

Be involved in the training and development of Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner Trainees.

To provide a service that is, as far as realistically possible, equitable and non-discriminatory in terms of age, gender, ethnicity and disability.

Develop knowledge of the localitys services and facilities, particularly in relation to mental health issues.

Undertake appropriate Case Management supervision on a regular basis in accordance with the relevant professional guidelines and policies.

Maintain appropriate clinical records in keeping with service operational policy.

Participate in audits of clinical activity and evaluative research as required.

Maintain outcome data as per service operational policy.

Participate in setting and review of objectives for the post on an annual basis.
