Band 6 Deputy Ward Manager Opportunities for Acute Inpatient Ward in Kirklees on Ward 18

We are seeking experienced mental health nurses to join our inpatient team. In this role, you will be working on acute wards for adults of working age, where strong communication skills are essential for understanding our service users' specific needs. Collaborating effectively with them will be key to supporting their recovery and care pathways.

Main duties of the job

As the Deputy Ward Manager on a busy inpatient unit, you will support the Ward Manager and Lead Nurse in delivering high-quality care to adults with a diverse array of mental health issues.

We are seeking a confident individual with strong interpersonal skills, who is capable of challenging constructively and tactfully, thereby earning the respect and trust of nursing, medical, and multidisciplinary team (MDT) staff. You will serve as a resource of expertise for the nursing team, service users, their carers, and the MDT. This role offers ample opportunities to enhance your skills in leadership, management, staff development, supervision, and appraisal, while also acting as a positive role model and facilitating preceptorship for newly registered nurses.

The successful candidate will be required to work a 24-hour shift system to ensure clinical leadership is maintained throughout both day and night. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to gain invaluable experience and increase your confidence as part of our senior nurse duty rota, leading efforts in the Kirklees and Calderdale locality while supporting other acute and older people's wards.
