An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Kirklees Rehab & Recovery Service at Enfield Down Hospital in Honley.

We currently have a vacancy for a hard-working and enthusiastic individual who is interested in delivering quality care to a group of service users.

We are looking to recruit a Housekeeper to provide a high standard of domestic, catering and general household duties within a ward environment for people with mental health problems. Duties will be carried out in line with the National standards of cleanliness and having due regard to Health and Safety, Food Hygiene and COSHH regulations.

The post will involve manual handling duties, dexterity whist using floor equipment, stretching, bending, lifting light weight, pushing and pulling equipment.

All members of hospital staff are required to respect the confidentiality of matters relating to patients, and report any adverse incidents to their Line Manager.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as an integral part of the team, responsible for the coordination of all Hotel Services within the Ward area and work as part of the multi-professional team, to ensure a clean and safe environment.

The main elements of the role include catering responsibilities, cleaning, ordering of stores, minor maintenance of equipment and re-stocking of areas together with other specified tasks as directed by the Housekeeping Supervisor. The post holder will be required to work closely with contractors, support services, monitor quality standards, report deficiencies, and take appropriate action.

The successful candidate will ensure that the tidiness and appearance of the unit is conducive to good patient care and service users' privacy and dignity must be Always respected.

Successful candidates will assist in monitoring and maintaining cleaning standards and infection control practices in the Ward area as appropriate. As well as monitoring and co-ordinating other adhoc maintenance.

The hospital does provide a daily cooked lunch which is prepared by our in house Cook, however housekeeping duties will include heating and serving lunch on days Cook is unavailable as well as supporting appropriate cleanliness of kitchen area daily in line with Food Hygiene and Health and Safety Policies.

Essential

  • Level 2 Certificate in Food Safety or willing to undertake and successfully complete within 12 months * (can be obtained through SWYPFT).
  • Basic literacy and numeric skills.

Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience of working in a demanding work environment.

Desirable

  • Previous experience of working in an industrial cleaning and/or catering environment.
  • Experience within a customer care/or a patient focused environment.

Special Knowledge/Skills

Essential

  • Good interpersonal skills. Able to communicate with service users, work colleagues and visitors in a courteous and sensitive manner.
