Thisis an exciting opportunity for highly motivated, accredited psychotherapists/or newly qualified
clinical/counselling psychologists to join the newWest Yorkshire MaternalMental Health Service (MMHS) and
support the delivery of the priorities set out in the NHS Long Term Plan. The
post will be hosted by SWYPFT on behalf of
the West Yorkshire ICS.
The new MMHS provides support to women and birthing parents experiencing
moderate to severe or complex mental health difficulties including birth
trauma, fear of birth itself (tokophobia), and trauma relating to pregnancy and
baby loss (including loss through removal into social care).
The post holders will have the opportunity to workclosely
with maternity services and midwives, along with commissioners,providers,and
key stakeholders, across West Yorkshire to help design andshape the MMHS to ensure we are
delivering high standards of care and offering a trauma informed service.
The
postholders will provide NICE Guideline recommended treatment (CBT/EMDR) for
women presenting with PTSD who have tokophobia or have experienced a birth
trauma or loss. Candidates must have proven experience of assessment skills and
providing treatment for trauma.
We support
continuing professional development and there will be opportunities to take on
further training in specialist interventions or therapies as agreed in line
management.

Main duties of the job
We are seeking to
recruit candidates, who are professional, approachable, and able to build
positive working relationships with the MMH team and partners across the West
Yorkshire ICS.
Candidates
must be confident working with women in the perinatal period and be able to
demonstrate the unique challenges during this time and be able to tailor
treatment packages accordingly.
Competence and confidence in working with and
managing risk in relation to both the mother and the baby are essential. Experience
of working with PTSD as a result of trauma and loss in the perinatal period
would be highly desirable.
All
applicants must have excellent clinical skills and confidence and enthusiasm
for working with partner agencies.
There will also be a focus on
reducing health inequalities, inclusion, and engagement of seldom heard
communities.
Agile working will be required with travel mainly local to one
area with occasional travel across West Yorkshire on an ad-hoc basis to help
manage capacity and demand and help reduce barriers to accessing the service.
Therapy may be delivered via video or face to face in local clinics or homes.
The service operates Mon-Fri; 9-5 pm however successful applicants
would be expected to have the flexibility to work occasional extended hours to
facilitate service effectiveness.
Part-time
and flexible working hours will be considered.

They will provide
highly specialist assessment and intervention while working collaboratively
