Seeking enthusiastic and compassionate Clinical or
Counselling Psychologists! We are
expanding! We have new investment, allowing us to recruit to two full time
posts. We also have a 22.5 hour per week post,
meaning we have opportunity to grow by 2.6 WTE.
The Calderdale Core team is a collaborative adult mental
health team, comprised of mental health nurses, occupational therapists,
psychiatrists, support workers and clinical and counselling psychologists and
psychotherapists. We are embracing
trauma informed practice and exciting developments in mental health community
transformation.
Within your role, you will provide psychological therapy to
service users and support the psychological thinking within the wider
team. Offering clinical supervision is
also a part of the working role and we will support you to develop in this area
(particularly if employed as newly qualified).
Currently we have psychologists working in EMDR, CAT, DBT,
MBT and other third wave CBT. The
service offers both individual and group therapies, contributing to a rich and
varied experience in the working role.
We are a collaborative and supportive team with support for continued
professional development, clinical supervision, and line management.
Opportunities for further training and gaining experience
in other clinical areas will also be supported.

Main duties of the job
We are seeking newly qualified band 7 Clinical or
Counselling Psychologist looking for a preceptorship to see them to 8a senior
post. The opportunity for preceptorship is
for a to join the service on a band 7 and undertake a development plan with the
aim of developing the required competencies for an 8a post.
The candidate would
need to successfully complete the competency framework before they gain the
band 8a and this would not be achieved due to length of time in post.
Alternatively, we are seeking those already working at 8a
level, or with the competency required to work at this level.
We
are particularly looking for individuals who have a strong interest or
experience of working with adults with complex psychological problems.
We
have good links to the D. Clinical Psych training course at Leeds, offering
placements to trainees, supervising research and providing teaching.

- To provide highly specialist psychological assessment and treatment for service users experiencing moderate, severe and complex mental health/psychological problems based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including psychological and neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect observation and semi-structured interviews with service users, their family and/or carers.
- To formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological intervention and/or management of mental health/psychological and/or behavioural difficulties based upon an appropriate conceptual framework and exercising expert clinical judgement based on the highest standards of evidence based practice across a full range of care settings.
- To establish rapport and build effective working relationships with service users and all those involved in their psychological, emotional and behavioural well-being.
- To evaluate and make decisions about treatment options taking into account theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes.
- To work jointly with other team members and professionals in delivering the most appropriate clinical service to service users and, where appropriate, their families/carers.
- To follow appropriate local Safeguarding Adults and Children policies in all clinical work, including close liaison with all relevant agencies.
- To provide specialist risk assessment of, and intervention to, service users who may present in local acute settings in line with agreed procedures
