30 Hours per week
We are looking for an
enthusiastic and Speech and Language Therapist to join our multi agency
Neurodevelopmental Assessment Team. The team currently offers evidence based
diagnostic assessments in line with NICE guidance to children and young people
under 18 where there are concerns regarding Autism Spectrum Conditions or
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.
This post would suit those who love using their assessment and
observation skills to formulate complex presentations and enjoy working as part
of a multidisciplinary team. The post also provides opportunities to develop
skills in supervision, teaching and training and to be part of service
development.
The service offers a wide range of development opportunities
and is committed to the career development of its staff. All relevant training
will be offered as necessary (for example ADOS training) and further CPD
opportunities are encouraged. Clinical supervision will be provided by one of
the Senior Speech and Language Therapists
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be involved
in all aspects of the assessment process and will be a fully integrated member
of our friendly and welcoming multidisciplinary team, working alongside our
Clinical Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists, Specialist Mental
Health Practitioners, Psychiatrist, Assistant Psychologists and Support Worker.
The role includes
using high level assessment and formulation
skills
Using observation and activity based
interactions in clinic and also at times in school
Using formal testing measures such as ADOS and
QB test (and specialist language assessments for those of SLT background) to
better understand a childs presentation
Writing diagnostic assessment reports
Supervision of healthcare support workers
Contributing to multidisciplinary team meetings
Involvement in post diagnostic workshops and
groups
Being involved in service development

the training and supervision of Speech and Language Therapy assistants,
students from other professions and to be involved in the provision of full
student placements in accordance with Royal College of Speech and Language
Therapy guidelines
To participate
in the development of innovations in the Kirklees Childrens Neurodevelopmental
Assessment Service and related service delivery issues, risk management, quality
standard setting and clinical effectiveness.
To maintain
accurate and concise clinical records, providing appropriate reports, attend
case conferences and reviews and to provide statistical information to
facilitate future business planning in line with Trust guidelines.
To reflect on
practice, both individually and with peers to identify own strengths and needs,
demonstrate Continuing Professional Development and to maintain a portfolio or
equivalent in line with professional and Trust guidelines
To work within
the confines of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
