Job summary
Lyndhurst is a mixed gender 12 bedded inpatient specialist rehabilitation unit providing mid-term support to those with long and enduring mental health conditions. In addition to this Lyndhurst provide rehabilitation to individuals from their own homes as a supplementary offer of care to those already receiving secondary mental health input.
The Service aims to provide: A whole systems approach to recovery from mental illness that maximises an individuals quality of life and social inclusion, by encouraging their skills, promoting independence and autonomy, in order to give them hope for the future, and leading to successful community living through appropriate support. A mental health rehabilitation service provides specialist assessment, treatment, interventions and support to enable the recovery of people whose complex needs cannot be met by general adult mental health services (Killaspy et al 2016)
The Service will work in partnership with other care providers, commissioners, independent and charitable care providers, to ensure service users receive the highest quality of care to meet their needs and have greater control over their lives.
The philosophy and organisational values are guided by a recovery focused model of care and the staff teams will endeavour to ensure the rehabilitation and recovery process.

Main duties of the job
As a specialist Occupation Therapist, you will have the opportunity to work across both the inpatient and community rehabilitation case load providing functional and specialist assessments of individuals needs across a 7-day service. You will work as part of the MDT to offer a multi-disciplinary approach to care for those on the rehab pathway. You will be involved in all aspect of care including care planning, ward rounds, risk assessments and delivering group and 1:1 intervention with service users.
As a band 6 clinician you will be involved in the screening and assessment of referrals identifying appropriate care pathways, provide supervision and peer support within the team, and contribute to the development of the service.
