We are recruiting more registered Nurses, Social Workers and Allied Health Professionals with post-qualifying experience working in mental health into the brand new Duty and Assessment Team.
Assessing, triaging and sign-posting are key skills we are looking for and you must be proficient in communication and engagement in a busy setting.

Main duties of the job
The postholder will work shifts between the hours of 9am and 8pm, seven days a week, 365 days a year and be based in A&E.
The role involves liaising with other professionals, handing over, conducting Duty Assessments in A&E, Assessing young people in Acute Trust beds, including SWYFT, medical and paediatric settings.
Forming and maintaining professional relationships is a key part of the role.

The role entails clinical decision-making to determine if a further assessment is required, or to refer on, or is a safe discharge clinically indicated? All Duty Assessments require a seven-day follow-up.
Knowledge of the following legislation is required: Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, Childrens Act and the Health and Social Care Act.

The post holder will provide an emergency assessment and intensive treatment and outreach response to children and young people with mental health needs.
- To provide a timely access to specialist services for children and young people that present in crisis or who present a significant and immediate risk to themselves and /or others, and outreach to those that are difficult to engage, providing intensive support where required to meet identified need contributing to the prevention of admission to residential provision and also the facilitation of timely discharge from residential provision.
- To look after and ensure the safe keeping of equipment and materials used by self in the execution of this post.
- To promote the safeguarding and welfare of children and young people.
KEY RESULT AREAS:
- To support the ongoing process of delivering a comprehensive CAMHS system and being party to the development of the Emergency Assessment, Intensive Treatment Response and Outreach element of the Specialist CAMHS portfolio in line with the service specification implementation plans and commissioner investment.
- To provide specialist assessment, intensive interventions, time limited therapy to children, young people with the most severe, complex and persistent mental health problems, including those who are severely mentally ill or at suicidal risk and where appropriate, families as both an autonomous practitioner and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a variety of settings to address need.
- To provide an immediate specialist assessment response to children and young people in crisis and those who present a significant and immediate risk to themselves and/or others and the development of an associated care plan.
- To be responsible for managing a caseload ensuring robust assessment, care planning, interventions and therapy, onward referral and through-care as appropriate.
- To support and be involved in, as required the, transportation of service users to identified areas of care.
