We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Senior Health Care Support Worker to join the Community Learning Disability Health Team in Barnsley. This is a full-time Band 3 permanent post.

You will join an experienced, well-established, and committed specialist multi-disciplinary team who are based in Barnsley. The Team consists of a comprehensive multi-disciplinary team including Learning Disability Nurses, psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, occupational therapists, physiotherapist, speech & language therapists, dietician, therapy assistants and healthcare support workers. The Team works together to support individuals aged 18 and over with diagnosed learning disabilities and their families/carers.

At the time of advertising, this role is eligible for sponsorship under the Health and Care Worker visa. However, sponsorship can only be offered if the prorated salary meets the minimum salary threshold of £23,200 set by UK Visa and Immigration.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a compassionate , excellent communicator as a Senior Support worker , who can work under the supervision of the nursing team, to deliver planned programmes of care to people with learning disabilities. Examples include, supporting service users to understand their health needs, promoting annual health checks, completing hospital passports. You would support service users to health appointments when appropriate, support their understanding in appointments, and provide health education, make and use resources, e.g.: easy read. You will work with carers and families, in different care settings, you will have a case load under the supervision of a named nurse, you need to be flexible, organised and able to prioritise your workload in the best interest of the service user.

You will be expected to engage in management and clinical supervision.

Working hours are: 9am-5pm Monday to Friday(except Bankholidays). Car access is essential.

Undertakes a limited range of delegated clinical care duties relevant to the service provided/work area and records patient observations: e.g. taking blood pressure, blood glucose monitoring, pregnancy testing, observing patients for signs of agitation or distress, removal of peripheral cannula urinalysis, removal of catheter.
