Job summary
We have two vacancies for Band 5 Dietitians to join our busy Community Nutrition and Dietetics Service in Barnsley and are keen to hear from newly qualified Dietitians (or those who are nearing the end of their training), in addition to existing Band 5 Dietitians who may wish to flourish in a community setting. We have two community posts available: 1 x 1.0wte, and 1 x 0.8wte.
The roles are varied and interesting, covering a range of adult community dietetics including community clinics, care homes and people who are housebound. The caseload includes nutrition support, post stroke care and support, diabetes, general dietetics and some enteral feeding (with support and supervision). Additionally, there may also be opportunity to support delivery of some patient groups as part of the role. Our service covers the whole of Barnsley.
You will need to possess excellent team working, communication, organisation and time management skills, as well as be able to demonstrate a commitment to continuing professional development.
This is a community-based role; applicants must have a driving license and access to a vehicle for work purposes. A contribution to the delivery of dietetic student training is also expected within this role.

Main duties of the job
As a Band 5 Community Dietitian you will:
Manage a caseload of adult patients requiring dietetic intervention in the community this may include a range of settings such as care homes, clinics and patients own homes.
Be able to provide dietetic assessment and intervention for a range of conditions including nutrition support, diabetes, stroke and some gastro conditions such as IBS.
Work as a part of our team of dietitians and dietetic assistants.
Have a patient centred approach in line with our Trust values
Work flexibly to meet the needs of the service
Possess excellent communication/interpersonal skills to negotiate and build rapport with patients, carers and families.
Be up to date with the current dietetic evidence base.
Work in partnership with other health professionals to provide holistic patient care
Work with key members of multidisciplinary team (MDT) to provide individualised advice, support & care plans to patients
Demonstrate excellent time management, prioritisation & organisational skills
Participate in education & staff development, clinical supervision and the appraisal process
Contribute to the delivery of dietetic student training
