We are seeking candidates to apply for an
Assistant Psychologist post in Barnsley Intensive Support Team (IST). The
primary function of the IST is to provide intensive assessment, formulation and
intervention within a Positive Behavioural Support Model to a cohort of our most
complex service users with behaviours that challenge, mental health needs and
autism.
This post would be working as part of an Multi-Disciplinary
Team (MDT) with a qualified Clinical Psychologist and Nursing, Occupational
Therapy and Health Care Assistant colleagues. This post may be of particular
interest to candidates with experience of working in a support worker role in
health & social care services in community and/ or inpatients who are
looking to take the next step in their psychology career, as well as current
Assistant Psychologists seeking a new challenge.
We are based at the Mapplewell
Centre, which has a specialist sensory room and a rebound therapy room. The
service is open Monday to Friday 9 to 5. We can offer flexible working hours
and an agile working policy.

Main duties of the job
The post involves direct assessment,
formulation and intervention work with service-users, joint working with the
qualified psychologist and MDT colleagues as well as indirect working with
families and staff teams. You may also be involved in audit, service
development and clinical governance projects. The service has close links with
the clinical psychology doctorate course at Leeds and regularly take trainees
on placement.
You will be supervised by the Clinical
Psychologist in the team, and our Trust also has a range of continuing
professional development opportunities from one day workshops to fully
accredited course's
