An exciting opportunity has
arisen to recruit a suitably qualified Clinical Psychologist into the Stroke
Service in Barnsley. The position is
being offered as a Band 8a / 8b preceptorship dependant on knowledge and
experience.
The post holder will be
joining a cohesive and well-established multi-disciplinary team and will be
focused on providing a full range of psychological and neuropsychological
assessment and interventions.
The Stroke Service is based
at Kendray Hospital with free parking available. The role will cover both the Inpatient
Stroke Rehabilitation Unit and the Early Supported Discharge (ESD) Community
service.
We expect candidates to have a passion for working with the client
group and relevant transferable skills and experience. We would expect
neuropsychological and psychological assessment skills, as well as intervention
skills relevant to the client group, their families and carers. There is
potential to work flexible hours.

Main duties of the job
The Stroke Rehabilitation
Service provides assessment and support for stroke survivors and their carers.
The psychologist role includes providing comprehensive psychological and neuropsychological
assessments to service users, as well as appropriate support and interventions
to their carers.
You will be working with an
extensive MDT and as such will be expected to provide consultancy, supervision
and clinical leadership both on a formal and informal basis. The post holder
will lead and supervise an assistant psychologist. There are opportunities for
service evaluation and development.
The successful applicant
will be joining a supportive network of psychologists at different levels
across the Trust who work in the broad specialisms around the needs of older
people and as a preceptorship post candidates at B8a would be supported to
access relevant training and development opportunities in order to fulfil the
relevant requirements.
