We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Physiotherapist who has a special interest in the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions to join our dynamic and forward-thinking Musculoskeletal outpatients service in Barnsley.

You will be part of a specialist team consisting of Musculoskeletal Physiotherapists, Advanced Practitioners, First Contact Practitioners and GPsi offering a comprehensive and integrated patient centred approach to treatment and management of MSK conditions. Assessment and management are supported by a team of expert clinicians who will encourage staff development at every level.

Main duties of the job

As a Static Band 5 Physiotherapist you will be an integral member of the Musculoskeletal team. You will carry a clinical caseload and undertake assessment, treatment, and advice to patients often with complex presentations, working as an autonomous practitioner.

You will have a varied caseload which could include working in community out-patient clinics, hydrotherapy and group sessions.

You will be responsible for the supervision of student Physiotherapists and provide specialist advice to staff, patients and carers

You will be supported to develop with regular training opportunities, caseload and clinical supervision providing evidence of ongoing CPD and striving to provide a high standard of evidence-based practice.

You will be expected to be flexible around working times which may include evening and weekend working.

1. To work as a Band 5 Physiotherapist within a specified service area or as part of a community rotation.

2. To assess, treat & advise own caseload of patients with supervision from a senior member of staff when necessary & formulate a clinical diagnosis & treatment plan as an autonomous practitioner

CLINICAL

1. To be professionally & legally responsible for all aspects of own work including the management of patients in your care

3. To formulate & deliver individual physiotherapy treatment programmes based on a sound knowledge of evidence based practice & treatment options e.g. manual techniques, patient education, exercise classes & electrotherapy.

4. To interpret & analyse clinical & non clinical information to form a diagnosis, prognosis & to recommend the best course of intervention, developing comprehensive discharge plans supported by a senior physiotherapist.

5. To assess patients understanding of treatment proposals, gain valid informed consent & have the capacity to within a legal framework with patients who lack capacity to consent

6. To communicate effectively with patients & carers to progress rehabilitation & treatment programmes.

7. To provide advice, teaching & instruction to patients, relatives, carers & other health care professionals to deliver a consistent approach & ensure rehabilitation goals are achieved.

8. To evaluate patients progress & reassess & amend treatment programmes where necessary to provide the most effective & efficient outcomes for patients

9. Where necessary to be involved in MDT meetings to ensure the delivery of a co-ordinated service to patients.

10. To be responsible for risk assessment of own caseload & ensure the correct & safe use of all equipment & appliances.

1. To be responsible for maintaining own competency to practice through a variety of CPD activities & maintain a portfolio which reflects personal development.
