An exciting opportunity has arisen that suits an Assistant Psychologist within our TransBarnsley team.
TransBarnsley is a short-term initiative that has received funding through the Suicide Prevention Innovation scheme funded by the Public Health dept. In Barnsley to tackle reducing suicide and suicide behaviours in our local communities. This is the second year we have received this funding, working exclusively with people that are trans and non-binary and the families of trans and non-binary people.
The successful candidate will have a passion for LGBTQ+ issues, mental health and reducing inequalities, in this marginalised group of people, and be an active advocate of LGBTQ+ rights either personally or as an ally. This experience and knowledge will enable you to deliver psychoeduction workshops to the TransBarnsley support group and wider population.

Main duties of the job
As an AP you will possess critical thinking and analysis skills and undertake literature searches and reviews to ensure application of research based best practice. Public Health expect regular reports that evidence reductions in peoples suicidality through ReQoL data so the post holder must be confident in handling and analysing data and report writing. You will be confident in using all social media platforms and be able to create surveys and to input and analyse this data in excel, it would be desirable if you have a working knowledge of CANVA and survey monkey.
You will have a flexible approach to work and be committed to hosting a weekly evening support group face to face and be available weekends when needed.
In return you will receive supervision from a clinical psychologist and be part of an initiative that is helping to change peoples lives and the perspectives of others.
It is a band 4 Assistant Psychologist temporary post until the end of March 2023 for 21 hours per week.

- To assist in the formulation and delivery of care plans involving the psychological treatment and/or management of a clients problems, under the supervision of a HCPC registered Practitioner Psychologist.
- To assist in the coordination and running of therapeutic groups or clinical projects.
- To work with other staff to assess community patients and review their care in preparation for multi-disciplinary reviews.
- To assist in the development of a psychological based framework of understanding and care to the benefit of all clients of the service, across all settings where care takes place.
