The Anaesthetic department currently consists of fifty Consultant
Anaesthetists who provide Anaesthetic and Intensive Care services for a busy
general hospital with all the major surgical specialties and a Major Burns
centre.
Main duties of the job
Elective theatre lists: for a variety of different surgical specialties
including General Surgery, Bariatrics, Urology, Gynaecology, Orthopaedics, Plastic
& Burns Surgery, ENT, Ophthalmics and Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.
Anaesthetic services elsewhere in the hospital (e.g. for Adult & Paediatric
emergencies requiring Anaesthetic support and interventional Radiology & Cardiology)
Urgent and Emergency Care duties including out-of-hours on-call;
schedules will take due account of the provisions of working time regulations
and safe working.
On-call duties will be on the Acute & Obstetric Anaesthetist Consultant
on-call rota. The current PA allocation for the on-call is 1PA/week.
Supporting Professional Activities in accordance with the Trust
Framework, withat leasta minimum of 1.5 SPAs included in the
core 10PA timetable. Additional SPA or DCC time may be commissioned in line
with the skills of the successful candidate and changing requirements of the
service.
Examples may include formal teaching responsibilities or departmental
leadership roles.
Dedicated office space is provided on the Pinderfields site, with access
to IT/online facilities available within the anaesthetic department at Dewsbury
Hospital.
Administrative support is accessible via the Anaesthetic Departmental Secretary.
