Job summary

The Digital Operations Team are responsible for the provision and support of electronic information systems and the system infrastructure for the Trust and local external NHS organisations.

The Digital Network Manager will be required to provide third line support, maintenance and development for the network infrastructure across three main hospital sites, the interconnectivty between them alongside several community sites.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provider support, maintenance and development of the Trusts network infrastructure across the many sites. Including but not limited to routing and switching, firewall configuration and troubleshooting and managing the many third party providers.

Job responsibilities

  • Responsible for the specification, procurement and installation of the server infrastructure required to support the Trust.
  • Responsible for the management of IT hardware support contracts ensuring reliability, availability and value for money.
  • Responsible for ensuring the right level of knowledge and tools are available to the Trust IT support staff.
  • Responsible for the development and visioning of IT services provision in support of Trust objectives.
  • Responsible for ensuring proactive maintenance on all IT server systems where possible.
  • Responsible for ensuring anti-virus software is available and up-to-date on all servers and desktops
  • Responsible for the implementation and adherence to relevant Trust and national policies and standards within the department and where appropriate within the Trust.
  • Responsible for the establishment and on-going provision of IT services throughout all Trust sites, particularly the provision of IT Systems.
  • Responsible for maintenance and support of the virtual server environment, storage area network (SAN) and monitoring system performance and capacity.
  • Apply independent judgement in the evaluation of new and existing information systems.
  • Exercise initiative in selecting appropriate software and hardware.
  • Provide specialist advice on IT system related issues.
  • Help to meet national mandatory timescale requirements undertaking monitoring of actions and any problems immediately to ensure the timescales are met.
  • Expected to work flexibly to meet the needs of a 24/7 workforce. This may mean, on occasion, working outside the core office hours.
  • The post holder will participate in the IT departments out of hours on-call rota.
